U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., stepped out of a closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting recently to talk with ACA International board members Rick Perr, attorney, Fineman, Krekstein and Harris, and Kevin Baich, vice president at Day Knight & Associates. The two ACA leaders met with various members of Congress about the future of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, issues related to the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection and other pressing matters.
Perr and Baich were in D.C. Nov. 28, the day House Democrats overwhelmingly voted in favor (203 to 32 with three blank and one absent) of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in her bid to secure the caucus nomination for the speakership in the 116th Congress.
After meeting with Gottheimer, Perr and Baich talked with U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt’s, R-Mo., staff followed by two Hill receptions where they engaged with multiple leaders and members of Congress.
As for Pelosi, Fox News reports that the former speaker will face a final floor vote with the entire House of Representatives Jan. 3 to secure the speakership. To win the position, she needs 218 votes.
