The ACA International Education Foundation awarded 35 high school and college students $50,000 in Loomer-Mortenson Scholarships for the upcoming school year.
Thanks to this year’s successful Collector’s Challenge events, the foundation banked enough money to offer students financial assistance to offset the cost of higher education—which is especially important due to financial impacts families and students are facing due to COVID-19. Collector’s Challenge is an annual fundraiser in which ACA members hold contests and other events to raise money for the scholarship program.
Scholarship applicants had to be current employees of a company affiliated with the accounts receivable management industry or the child of an employee. Winners were selected based on their cumulative grade point average and a two- to three-page essay on the topic of the value of consumer credit to our nation’s economy.
Jake Freedman, who is studying at the University of Pennsylvania, won the first-place $10,000 scholarship. Freedman’s parent is employed by MRS BPO LLC, Cherry Hill, N.J.
Samantha Elysee, attending Long Island University, won the $5,000 second place scholarship. Elysee’s parent is employed by Sunrise Credit Services, Farmingdale, N.Y.
Ethan McKague, attending Brigham Young University, won the $3,000 third place scholarship. McKague’s parent is employed by Ontario Systems, LLC, Vancouver, Wash.
