ACA International members are encouraged to consider engaging with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by applying for one of several openings on its advisory committees this year. Winning a seat on any of these committees would provide an opportunity for accounts receivable management industry professionals to offer valuable insights to the federal regulator.
According to a blog post, the bureau is accepting applications for membership on its Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Council, Credit Union Advisory Council and Academic Research Council. Advisory committee members include representatives of consumers, diverse communities, the financial services industry, academics and economists.
Appointments to the committees are generally for two years. However, the bureau’s director may amend the respective committee charters from time to time during the charter terms if deemed necessary to accomplish the purpose of the committees, according to the Federal Register notice.
Applications and more information about selection criteria are available on the CFPB’s website. Applications are due Feb. 24.
New members are expected to be announced in late summer.
