The Oregon Department of Justice has new FAQs for consumers and businesses to prepare for the effective date of the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, Senate Bill 619 (PDF), July 1, 2024.
Oregon is one of 15 states that have enacted data privacy legislation.
The Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (PDF) provides consumers in Oregon with rights to protect their personal information and outlines obligations for businesses that collect, use, store, disclose and analyze data as well as entities that process personal data on behalf of those businesses.
The Privacy FAQs for Businesses outlines who the law applies to, defining personal data, consumers’ rights and any personal data that is excluded from the law, among other topics.
The document will be updated over time with information for consumers and businesses.
