Over 100 ACA International members from across Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin participated in the Great Lakes Credit and Collection Association conference in May. GLCCA was excited to also host the Michigan Association of Collection Agencies at their meeting this year.
“The 2022 GLCCA conference was a huge success,” said Ryan Matrisch, director of business development at Pro Com Services of Illinois, who was sworn in as GLCCA president at the conference. “We welcomed over 100 attendees from throughout Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin, as well as guests from several other states. We continue to grow stronger as a regional unit of credit a

nd collection professionals by providing educational and networking opportunities like this to our members.”
Two Reg F sessions during the conference discussed best practices around compliance and litigation with Jessica Klander, shareholder, and Patrick Newman, attorney, at Bassford Remele, and Justin Penn, partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson.
Kelli Krueger, ACA International’s director of education, and Dennis Barton, owner and managing attorney of The Barton Law Group LLC, presented on employee retention. The conference also featured a lobbyist panel, a best ideas and a burning issues session, and the popular attorney panel on legal issues.

The GLCCA and Michigan Association of Collection Agencies raised over $30,000 during their annual bottle auction. Of the proceeds, $22,000 will be split between each state’s various legislative funds as well as ACPAC. The state units designated $8,800 to be split between four different charities selected by each state, including the Special Olympics of Chicago, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, SecureFutures in Wisconsin and Michigan Jump $tart for Financial Literacy.
