Attendees at ACA International’s Fall Forum left Chicago energized with insights on how to prepare for the future of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, how to get involved in advocacy, and how to implement new strategies to optimize their business.
This year’s conference featured sessions covering legal education to earn continuing legal education (CLE) credits, health care, and revenue acceleration for the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry.
Following the morning’s engaging Main Stage session, education sessions broke out into three different rooms targeted toward each specialized track.
Seasoned attorney Michael Klutho from Bassford Remele kicked off a session where participants delved into innovative strategies aimed at revolutionizing agency revenue. Klutho emphasized the need to move beyond mere compliance and redirect focus toward strengthening agencies’ bottom lines.
Next, during a CLE session led by David Kaminski, owner and attorney at Carlson & Messer LLP, participants explored the “The Dos and Don’ts of Text Message, Email, and Chat in Debt Collection,” focusing on crucial regulations like Reg F, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and Federal Communications Commission guidelines.
Kaminski provided valuable insights on integrating text messaging platforms into client communication strategies, effective methods to mitigate liability risks and what you need to know about pass-through consent under the FCC.
Lastly, in an engaging health care collection session, Angela Armstrong, chief operating officer at State Collection Service, Inc., encouraged participants to rethink their approach to adapt and thrive amidst industry shifts. The discussion covered crucial aspects of understanding medical debt drivers beyond credit reporting, using upstream revenue cycle deficits to maximize inventory potential, and leveraging self-service drivers.
The last day of Fall Forum continued the education with sessions covering AI technology, mergers and acquisitions, UDAAP and much more.
“I’m not scared anymore about our industry,” Mindy Chumbley, president of Solverity, said in her session on embracing new technologies. “I believe that AI is going to give us tools so that all of us small agencies can do our work better to remain profitable and thrive.”
ACPAC Nightcap
On Wednesday night, participants gathered for an after-hours nightcap social in support of the ACPAC Administrative Fund to unwind, relax, and connect with peers—all while catching the thrilling end of the Chicago Bears vs. Carolina Panthers Thursday night football showdown.
ACA thanks its Fall Forum attendees and sponsors for making it a great event and speakers for bringing their knowledge to share.
