The meeting is an opportunity to provide feedback on the state’s updated student loan law.
9/29/2021 8:30
The Colorado Department of Law will hold a stakeholder meeting on student loan rules at 1 p.m. MDT, Oct. 7.
The purpose of the stakeholder meeting is to solicit feedback on rules regarding the application of the Uniform Consumer Credit Code and Colorado Student Loan Equity Act to income share agreements, creditors making income share agreements, and income share agreement servicers.
The Colorado Student Loan Equity Act expands the existing Colorado Student Loan Servicers Act, which applies only to persons who service student loans, by adding a section covering private lenders, creditors and collection agencies in connection with those student education loans that are not made, insured or guaranteed under federal law and that are used for postsecondary education, ACA International previously reported.
The administrator of the Department of Law is accepting written feedback on these topics or any additional income share agreement-related topics by close of business on Friday, Oct. 8. The department also requests sample income share agreements loan agreements from stakeholders.
There will be a rulemaking hearing following consideration of information provided by stakeholders and publication of a proposed rule. A final draft of any proposed rules will be published with the Colorado Secretary of State at least 20 days before the rulemaking hearing
