Think about your morning routine—chances are you use multiple forms of technology multiple times—an alarm app on your phone, remote car starter, asking Alexa or Siri to start the coffee, or to make your breakfast—okay maybe we’re not that far yet.
But it’s no secret we rely a lot on technology today and it makes day-to-day tasks a lot easier in our personal lives and at work.
It’s also no secret that it can present some challenges for the accounts receivable management industry as some regulations and laws are still catching up to modern technologies—but there are still many ways to embrace new programs and tools at your company.
ACA International’s 2020 Spring Forum & Expo’s, March 11-13 in Las Vegas, ForwardTech (#ForwardTECH) education track was designed with this in mind and to present opportunities and solutions to move businesses forward.
#ForwardTECH: An Experience in Technology Application for the Industry focuses on how the industry is poised for a technological revolution surrounding the way we conduct business and communicate with consumers, as well as the businesses that third-party collectors represent.
Here are a few sessions to be sure to check out during the three-day event:
- A Look Into the Future: The Collection Office of 2030, Thursday March 12 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. John Bedard Jr., owner of the Bedard Law Group P.C. Ranjan Dharmaraja, CEO-president of Quantrax Corporation, and Dan Womack, senior director of engineering and product management at Ontario Systems LLC, will cover how technology changes rapidly and the ARM industry has experienced many waves of opportunity over the decades. It doesn't seem like long ago that we were transitioning from card systems to computers. This session will give you an overview of where the industry is today and what technologies are on the horizon that will make the average office look much different.
- What's Behind Your Walls: IT Infrastructure Guidance with Jim Warner, chief technology and security officer for State Collection Service Inc., 9:10 to 10:10 a.m. Thursday, March 12. Many of us take for granted the technologies throughout our offices that hum along efficiently each day. But what actually happens in the private recesses of the IT department? Warner will review what it takes to handle corporate IT needs in 2020 and steps you can take to ensure a smooth-running office.
- Here Today and There in a Second: Electronic Document Delivery with Robert Blue, director of business development at Renkim Corporation, Danny Cantrell, CEO and founder of Solutions by Text, and Albert Rookard, president of Applied Innovation Inc., 11:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. Thursday, March 12. In years gone by, we used the U.S. Postal Service very heavily for transferring documents. Then the creation of the fax machine was a revelation that allowed us to exchange documents in mere minutes. Today, we move our documents instantly via electronic delivery technologies. In this session, learn about the most recent advancements in electronic delivery options to keep your office on the cutting edge.
- Ready, Fire, Aim!: A Case Law Review of Technological Resources with Porter Morgan IV, corporate counsel at Malone Frost Martin PLLC and John Rossman, attorney at law at Moss & Barnett., 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12. As new advancements in technologies flood our market, we may be excited about the prospects of trying something new and creative to enhance our success. Should we hop onto every technological train that pulls into our office station? Attend this session for insight and guidance on current case law surrounding these technologies with recommendations on how to be aware of the opportunities as well as the landmines
This new and timely track, developed in partnership with ACA’s Technology and Innovation Committee, opens on Wednesday, March 11, with a three-part deeper dive series covering challenges when considering new technology, vendor demonstrations, and technology from an operations perspective. Don’t miss additional sessions on Friday, March 13.
