ACA International encourages members to assume leadership roles in educating and informing state lawmakers about the industry as well as the real-world impact of relevant policy. Recently, former board chairman Jay Gonsalves, president of Action Collection Agencies Inc., in Middleboro, Massachusetts, along with member Jeff DiMatteo, owner of American Profit Recovery in Marlborough, Massachusetts, were working the halls of the Massachusetts State House ensuring that policymakers have a clear understanding of what’s important to ARM businesses.
During the last two legislative sessions, ACA and its 36 state and regional units have helped members succeed by identifying and tracking more than 1,300 state level bills that, if enacted, would impact the accounts receivable management industry. In conjunction with the state and regional units, ACA leads efforts to support and oppose legislation and launch strategic grassroots campaigns while frequently organizing and participating in broad coalitions that collectively advocate for shared interests.
Members interested in state policy and campaigns, should contact Andrew Madden, vice president of state government and unit affairs at [email protected]. For information about federal advocacy, contact Leah Dempsey, vice president and senior counsel of federal advocacy, at [email protected], or join ACA’s advocacy efforts next year at the annual #WashingtonInsightsFlyIn20.
