ACA International’s Vice President of State and Government Affairs Andrew Madden provides a state legislative and advocacy outlook for 2020.
1/6/2020 12:30
“If we look back at the 2019 legislative session, it was a very busy session with over 750 bills that would have impacted our industry,” Madden said.
In 2020, 46 states will hold legislative sessions. Montana, North Dakota, Nevada and Texas will not convene unless called to do so by their state governors.
Madden said he expects to have a good sense of the type of bills, and how many, ACA will be watching this year by mid-January. Fourteen states have legislative filing deadlines of Jan. 15, 2020.
It’s important for ACA members to get involved in state level advocacy by contacting their state unit, he added. Visit ACA’s State Government Affairs website for more information or Madden may be reached at [email protected].
