ACA International is the resource for members impacted by and tracking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit’s decision in Hunstein v. Preferred Collection and Management and Services Inc., and with that in mind has an online resource center available for case background and updates on ACA’s compliance and advocacy efforts.
The resources include a primer on the case, what ACA members can do if they face a copycat lawsuit as a result of the Hunstein decision as well as where it stands following the defendant-appellee’s (Preferred) petition for rehearing en banc. Using data from WebRecon, an interactive map tracks copycat case activity on the state level.
ACA also reviewed the case for its potential impact on consumers and created an overview for members on that subject.
If your agency needs financial support to fight a claim, when the time comes to do so, reach out to ACA’s Industry Advancement Fund (IAF) for financial support by emailing [email protected]. The IAF exists for exactly this reason, so don’t be shy about reaching out to make an inquiry and seek guidance on submitting an application.
Access the Hunstein Resource Center here.
