ACA International is among business organizations nationwide, spearheaded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, urging Congress and the Trump administration to take immediate steps to restore operation of the government.
“The current shutdown – now the longest in American history – is causing significant and in some cases lasting damage to families, businesses, and the economy as a whole. The harm is well documented and continues to compound with each passing day,” a Jan. 18 letter from the hundreds of organization states.
The U.S. House of Representatives will resume work in the Capitol Tuesday evening, Politico reports.
President Donald Trump proposed a compromise plan to end the shutdown last weekend, but debate between the administration, U.S. Senate and Democrat-controlled House of Representatives continues as Monday marks a month into the government closure.
ACA International also recently shared concerns about the government shutdown in a letter to House Financial Services Committee Chair U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Ranking Member U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C.
