A bill signed by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf allows consumers to permanently register their phone number on the Do Not Call (DNC) List.
HB-318, the Telemarketer Registration Act, applies to telephone solicitors only, but debt collectors should take note of the precedent the legislation may create at the state level.
Consumers in Pennsylvania previously had to register their phone number every five years to remain on the Do Not Call List.
According to an article from Eric Troutman on TCPAWorld.com, the bill also prohibits telemarketing calls on legal holidays and “establishes a bunch of new rules for ‘robocallers’ regarding procedures for maintaining an internal DNC protocol.”
