Associated Collection Agencies, Inc. Colorado/Wyoming/New Mexico Unit
Welcome to the Associated Collection Agencies, Inc. Colorado/Wyoming/New Mexico Unit
Associated Collection Agencies Inc. is the State Unit of ACA International, The Association of Credit Collection Professionals, a worldwide trade Association with over 5,500 members.
Established in 1923, Associated Collection Agencies has over 60 members representing Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico.
Associated Members can take advantage of the many resources available including a strong education program. Because the collection industry is extremely regulated by both the federal and state government, it is important for industry members to be in compliance with existing laws as well as informed about legislative updates. ACA offers information and schools on compliance issues as well as techniques and information on how agencies can manage their offices more efficiently and be more profitable.
Associated Collection Agencies, Inc. has established a strong legislative presence in both Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. This allows the collection industry to have a voice in government. ACA has successfully introduced and passed legislation as well as helped to defeat legislation unfriendly to the collection industry. Colorado contracts with a full time Lobbyist, The Capstone Group. Members have the satisfaction of knowing that their interests are being well represented at the legislative level.
The benefits of membership are many, but perhaps the most important benefit is the opportunity for members to interact with each other and share information on an informal level. The annual convention each summer offers a terrific forum for members to talk shop, renew old friendships and have some fun at the same time. While it is true that ACA members are actually competitors, this group has learned that by pooling their many resources, both the collection industry and its members are beneficiaries many times over.
Several hundred bills are introduced into the Colorado Legislature every session. Many of these bills may affect the collection industry, your business, and your client’s ability to benefit from your services. The Colorado PAC Fund needs your support to help elect legislators who favor creating a pro-business environment in Colorado; an environment that allows businesses like yours to grow and prosper.
Each year, the ACA Legislative Committee establishes a comprehensive plan which includes candidate endorsements, interviews and budget planning. Much of the committees’ time is spent defeating adversarial bills that will have a negative impact on your business. Many years, we draft and introduce our own legislation that will benefit your business and reduce government interference. Over the years, and with the support of a dedicated group of individuals, ACA has become a force to reckon with at the Capital. Maintaining this presence takes serious money. The PAC needs your support to ensure our continued success.
Your donations, no matter what size, make a difference. With your help and support, we will continue to improve your business environment and protect your rights to conduct business in Colorado.
Together we can make a difference!

The Association Annual Conference, held in June of each year, offers a terrific forum for members to talk shop, renew old friendships and have some fun at the same time. While it is true that ACA members are actually competitors, this group has learned that by pooling their many resources, both the collection industry and its members are beneficiaries many times over.

Consumer Rights Information
The Colorado Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (CFDCPA) protects consumers from unfair and abusive debt collection practices. It applies to debt collectors, collection agencies, and companies that buy and collect debts in default. The CFDCPA does not apply to creditors who collect their own debts.
This following information outlines your most important rights under the CFDCPA.
Remember: The FDCPA and CFDCPA does not protect you from paying legitimate bills you owe. You are legally responsible for the payment of these debts.
