By now you’ve likely heard that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a public health emergency due to the outbreak and spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCov).
Although this has happened only a few times within the past century, the WHO is taking significant precautions in response to this deadly virus responsible for deaths across the world. According to a CNN article published Feb. 12, 2020, the novel coronavirus has killed more than 1,100 people and infected over 45,000 people worldwide (the majority of cases are in mainland China).
But that's nothing compared to seasonal influenza, which could be making its way through your office. In the U.S. alone, the flu has already caused an estimated 22 million illnesses, 210,000 hospitalizations and 12,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A critical first step to protecting your organization against seasonal influenza, health care or other emergencies is to be prepared with an action plan ready to deploy at any time. Agility Recovery Solutions Inc, an ACA International affiliate member, offers a seasonal influenza preparedness checklist with recommended steps to developing a plan and communicating with employees.
