New leaders in the Democrat party as well as ranking members for the Republicans are under consideration for House Energy and Commerce subcommittees.
U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Pa., is nominated to serve as chair of the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
A total of 18 Democrat nominees to serve on the subcommittee, which has oversight of the Federal Communications Commission, await approval by the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and the Democratic Caucus.
U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Ohio, is recommended as ranking member of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. The House Steering Committee also recommended U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte, R-Mt., to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee.
U.S. Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., is elected as vice chair of the full House Energy and Commerce Committee.
“Today the committee elected strong and experienced leaders to chair our six subcommittees and to serve as vice chair for the full committee. Each of these leaders will play a critical role in helping push the committee’s agenda forward,” Pallone said in the news release.
According to Politico, the 18 Democrats recommended for the subcommittee surpass 13 who served in the 115th Congress. In addition to Clarke, U.S. Reps. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., the former top Democrat on the subcommittee, Doris Matsui, D-Calif., and Peter Welch, D-Vt., will continue to serve.
