Michael Hiller was recently selected to serve a four-year term on the Michigan Collection Practices Board, created to license and regulate collection agencies, according to a news release from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s office.
Hiller, vice president of operations at American Profit Recovery in Farmington Hills, Michigan, was appointed by Gov. Whitmer as one of three new members on the board. “It’s equal parts honor and privilege, and an opportunity and exercise in servant leadership,” Hiller said of the appointment.
The board was created to license and regulate collection agencies that directly or indirectly engage in soliciting a claim for collection or collect, or attempt to collect, a claim owed or due, according to its website. It consists of nine members, including six collection agency licensees and three public members. The board works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the practice of approximately 713 collection agencies and 525 collection agency managers.
