After more than a year of pandemic-related restrictions and shutdowns, the line between work and home life has been blurred for many people. It can be tough to make time for yourself and find a healthy balance between your “should do” tasks and your “want to do” tasks.
On Friday, July 30, keynote speaker Amy Vetter presented “Business, Balance and Bliss: How B3 Method Can Transform Your Life” at ACA International’s Convention & Expo in Las Vegas. Vetter wears many hats, including author, TEDx speaker, certified public accountant (CPA), yoga studio owner and more.
Her inspirational presentation gave attendees tools to help them create a sense of work-life harmony, cultivate greater connections with customers, teams and colleagues, and practice mindfulness at work for greater focus and productivity.
Vetter got vulnerable in her talk, describing a financially insecure childhood and a dogged determination to pursue a career that would put her on more stable ground. When she was named partner at a CPA firm at age 32, rather than feeling excited about the professional accomplishment she felt panic, wondering, is this really what I want to be doing? A visit to her therapist taught her to ask herself questions she had been avoiding, like, “Where is the joy in my life?”
“I realized during that time that I was living a life that someone told me to live rather than really looking at what I want to do,” she said.
With the help of an executive coach, personality assessments, meditation and a lot of self-reflection, Vetter put herself on a new path—one that felt more authentically her.
She encouraged the audience to make space for questions about what brings them joy. Get to know yourself. Set limits and be strategic with your time. In doing so, you can figure out your true passions and create more meaningful relationships with others.
After Vetter’s presentation, convention attendees enjoyed a day of engaging education sessions touching on topics including artificial intelligence, Reg F, multi-channel communications, remote onboarding and more.
While ACA’s convention has ended, plans are already underway for the 2022 Convention & Expo in Orlando July 20-22. We will see you there!
