A little time volunteering in the community can go a long way. Take it from Ohio-based collection agency and ACA International member Capital Recovery Systems Inc.
In October 2018, staff from the company’s Columbus and Steubenville locations started volunteering on a weekly basis.
“A lot of people have a pre-conceived notion about collection agencies and the people who work there, and we want to dispel that,” said Director of Operations Debbie DiAlbert, who has spearheaded Capital’s volunteer efforts, mostly at local food banks. “We want to show that we care, and that we go the extra mile to contribute to our communities.”
Volunteering regularly has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for the company. Not only has it helped foster better relationships and teamwork between coworkers, but employees look forward to it as a nice change of pace from their daily office routine, according to staff.
“Some of us are so busy in our daily lives that it’s hard to set aside time to volunteer outside of work,” said Client Liaison Alex Gregory. “The fact that our company sets aside time for us is so wonderful—we get to go out and make a real, positive impact on the world in ways that make us proud. It’s very fulfilling.”
Organizations Capital supports in the community include the Ohio Food Bank, Westerville Area Resource Ministry, the Steubenville Urban Mission, and Neighborhood Services Inc.
Martin Butler, executive director of Neighborhood Services Inc., personally thanked Capital for their support.
“Your faithfulness is just amazing. Volunteering here, it means so much to us, and we are so grateful,” Butler said.
