Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP (KDV), a national law firm, has doubled the size of its Philadelphia office with the addition of four attorneys who are members of ACA International, including Richard Perr, a member of ACA’s Board of Directors.
With 25 years of litigation experience, Perr joins KDV as a partner and co-managing partner of the Philadelphia office and will chair the new Consumer Financial Services practice group which represents financial institutions nationwide, providing risk management, compliance advice and counseling and litigation defense.
Graeme E. Hogan, Monica M. Littman and Matthew E. Selmasska join KDV as associates. All come from the Philadelphia offices of Fineman Krekstein & Harris PC.
“There is great synergy between KDV and Rick’s practices in consumer financial services, professional liability and commercial litigation,” said Michael A. Kaufman, co-managing partner at Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck. “The addition of this team is an optimum way for us to take the next step in growing our presence in Philadelphia and South Jersey, expanding the firm’s practice focus and enhancing three leading practices.”
Perr represents creditors, law firms and agencies against individual and class action allegations invoking federal and state consumer protection laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. He also advises on matters related to compliance in the credit and collection industry, including review, implementation and auditing of policies and procedures, especially in adherence with governmental regulatory bodies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
“Our clients require representation in multiple jurisdictions and KDV’s national platform, high caliber litigators and full-service financial services capability made the firm a very compelling choice for us,” Perr said.
He is a past president of ACA International, sits on the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Collectors Association, is a member of the Professional Liability Defense Federation and served for four years as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Ethics Committee for District IV (Camden and Gloucester Counties).
“KDV has established a strong reputation in Pennsylvania for its aggressive yet pragmatic and efficient approach to litigation and keen advice and counseling capabilities, helping us attract great talent,” adds Gregory S. Hyman, co-managing partner of the Philadelphia office. “Rick and his team enhance all of those qualities.”
Hogan represents clients in commercial and business disputes, consumer financial services and real estate disputes.
Littman represents clients in matters involving consumer financial services and also represents community associations. She litigates post-employment restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and employment agreements and has extensive experience litigating matters in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Dispute Resolution forum.
Selmasska represents clients in consumer financial services, insurance coverage, professional liability defense, and other commercial litigation actions.
“It is very gratifying, having opened the first KDV Pennsylvania office in Blue Bell almost 20 years ago, to see us expand to two offices and have numerous national practices,” said Philip R. Voluck, managing partner of the Blue Bell, Pennsylvania office.
KDV opened its Center City Philadelphia office in 2017. Its new Philadelphia office will be in Center City as well. KDV now has 14 attorneys in its two Pennsylvania offices (Philadelphia and Blue Bell) and 179 attorneys in 11 offices nationwide.
