– The restrictions are in effect through Dec. 14.
– Licensed agencies in Washington already transitioned to a work-from-home model and the industry is awaiting a public comment period on the Washington Collection Agency Board’s rule on remote work.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has announced a four-week statewide set of restrictions that reiterate work-from-home requirements for licensed collection agencies and require offices to close to the public. Those that remain open are required to limit indoor occupancy to 25%.
The restrictions, in effect through Dec. 14, are in response to a recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Washington and across the U.S.
The Washington Department of Licensing broke down the requirements for licensed collection agencies in a Q&A document defining occupancy and capacity limits.
The restrictions impacting the accounts receivable management industry are in line with the Washington Collection Agency Board’s extension of the state’s emergency temporary work-from-home rule—enacted in June in response to COVID-19. The extension, until Feb. 17, 2021, is part of the process to enact a permanent rule, which could greatly expand options for the ARM industry and set a precedent for other states to follow suit, ACA International previously reported.
The rule was last discussed during a CAB meeting Nov. 3 and a public comment period is expected to be open soon.
