ACA’s Collectors Challenge Month is right around the corner! Plan ahead and support the ACA International Education Foundation’s (ACAEF) Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship program, which advances the higher education of people connected to the accounts receivable management industry.
Not only does Collectors Challenge Month raise money for a good cause, but it’s also an opportunity to participate in fun activities with your colleagues.
Throughout the month of April, member companies are encouraged to coordinate company fundraising activities to contribute donations to the ACAEF at any level. Collectors Challenge Month provides the opportunity help support scholarship funding and get team members working together outside of their day-to-day responsibilities, while also helping to highlight the importance of financial literacy through the Loomer-Mortensen Scholarship Program.
“One of the blessings and curses of our industry is knowing and understanding the importance of financial literacy. To promote the importance of financial literacy, every year the ACA Education Foundation awards tens of thousands of dollars to ACA members, their employees, and children of their employees via the Loomer Mortenson Scholarship Program,” said Roger Weiss, president of CACi and the ACA Education Foundation Board. “The scholarships awarded, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, are the end product of promoting financial literacy. By way of our members encouraging employees, and their children, to apply for the scholarships, everyone hearing about it can’t help but raise an eyebrow, discuss, and consider the need to improve upon financial literacy at all levels.”
In 2021, several ACA Education Foundation Board members organized the “Pay or Pie Challenge,” where they challenged fellow members to write a check for $500 or get a pie in the face.
Jennifer Whipple, who serves on Financial Literacy Committee and ACA’s Board, and is president of Collection Bureau Services Inc., was one of the 2021 challenge participants.
“Our agency was nominated for Collectors Challenge last year—$500 or a pie in the face,” Whipple said. “My staff took a vote and chose to donate $500 AND give me a pie in the face. It was coconut cream and very delicious!”
New this year: Try partnering with another member company by co-hosting a virtual fundraiser or organizing a fundraising activity with members of your state unit.
