The Women in Collections Resource Committee (WICRC) has exciting plans ahead to involve members in informal discussions as part of its monthly Water Cooler Chat series—simply by logging on from your office.
Each session, held on the second Thursday of every month, will include a new host from the WICRC who will kick off the discussion with a prompt based on current events and challenges in the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry. After the introduction, the host will open the floor for participants to share their thoughts.
Think about that time when you learned something unexpected in a casual conversation—something that changed your life! The WICRC gives members the opportunity for networking and conversation with your peers in an unstructured and casual chat.
For the next session, from 1 to 1:30 p.m. CDT Oct. 13, WICRC member Nora Golden, senior vice president of sales at WebRecon, will lead a discussion exploring the trend of “Quietly Quitting,” which Gallup explains is a measure of employee engagement.
“The trend toward quiet quitting—the idea spreading virally on social media that millions of people are not going above and beyond at work and just meeting their job description—could get worse,” according to Gallup. “This is a problem because most jobs today require some level of extra effort to collaborate with coworkers and meet customer needs.”
Golden selected the topic for the WICRC and members—all are welcome—to discuss some ideas to be proactive about identifying “quiet quitters,” making them feel cared about, providing opportunities for growth and helping them connect with their organization’s mission or purpose.
To join the WICRC Water Cooler Chat, complete a one-time registration online for the 30-minute sessions, designed to help members connect with their industry peers, ask questions and get feedback on topics set for each meeting.
The WICRC is setting topics in advance to encourage members to join the group and spread the word to their colleagues.
Upcoming Water Cooler Chat topics include:
- November: How to Do It All: Holidays, Family & Work with Cortney Helfrich
- December: Trust Your Gut with Debra Ciskey
- January: Harnessing Emotional Intelligence with Patty Genovay
- February: Leaning into Being Self-Confident with Brit Suttell
