ACA International’s advocacy efforts are built by passionate people who are focused on policy change and education. We are excited to welcome a new face to the lineup: Travis Snyder, ACA’s new PAC director, who will work to expand our reach with legislators and regulators as part of our team headquartered in Washington, D.C.

“We’re so pleased to welcome Travis to our advocacy team,” said ACA CEO Scott Purcell. “His proven experience in this area will help us create a strong sense of community for ACA members that support ACPAC. We have a lot of momentum in our advocacy work, and Travis is the right person for ACA’s culture and work ethic to ensure that momentum grows.”

ACPAC is the voluntary, bipartisan political action committee (PAC) for ACA.

ACPAC helps raise ACA’s profile on Capitol Hill and allows us to build connections with candidates who recognize the role the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry plays for the financial services ecosystem. It provides financial assistance to political candidates who support a sound pro-business philosophy and responsible positions on issues of concern to the ARM industry.

We sat down with Snyder to hear about his background and his plans to help expand ACA’s work with regulators and legislators on behalf of the ARM industry and members.

Q: What drew you to advocacy work? I’d love to hear about your career.

A: I have a bachelor’s degree in theology from Holy Cross in Indiana. I got my start in politics running a mayoral campaign in South Bend, Indiana. I then did opposition research covering all congressional candidates in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York City and Delaware. I ran field operations for the Michigan Republican party in 2020 and from there I did digital marketing for congressional campaigns. My biggest career highlight, and honestly one of my greatest achievements, comes from work I did outside of my work life. In July 2021, I suffered a stroke. While recovering from the stroke in the hospital, I facilitated Visa applications to help get Afghanistan interpreters out of the country during the U.S. withdrawal.

Q: What are your goals for ACA’s advocacy efforts and ACPAC?

A: I have three goals, actually:

  1. I want to get more of our members engaged in everything we do. We have around 1,300 members covered under a Solicitation Release Form but only 95 are active donors. I would like to help facilitate more engagement on the PAC side from our members.
  2. I want to grow the size and reach of ACPAC going into 2024. I also want to increase our brand recognition and reputation.
  3. I genuinely want to increase our ability to do good and make our country a better place.

Q: Why are you excited about working for ACA?

A: What excites me the most about working with ACA is that we are in the trenches every day ensuring not only our members’ success, but also the success of everyday Americans. The work we get to do each day—the advocacy work, the education opportunities we have—all have a tangible impact on the daily lives of the people we meet. I am excited to be a part of this dedicated team that has such an impact.

Snyder will be based in ACA’s D.C. office, but many of you will see him at member events creating community and connections for existing and prospective ACPAC contributors. He may be reached by email at [email protected].
