Women make up a significant portion of the ARM workforce, including as leaders, business owners and advocates. In recognition of Women’s History Month, ACA is featuring some of those members as well as staff in ACA Daily.
In this week’s spotlight, Evelina Shalevich, executive vice president of IT at MRS BPO LLC, shares about role models that inspire her and how she embraces diversity and inclusion personally and professionally.
Women’s History Month originated from a weekly national celebration in 1981. In 1987, Congress designated March as Women’s History Month to recognize the achievements of women in various U.S. career fields, according to The Library of Congress Women’s History Month website.

Q. What does Women’s History Month mean to you?
A. For me it’s a time to reflect on the many wonderful accomplishments achieved by women across the world and also to remind myself that it is up to us, women of the present, to continue to make sure that future generations of women are truly treated equally.
Q. How do you celebrate and honor Women’s History Month on a personal level and/or at your company?
A. I always get flowers for my mom on International Women’s Day. She has been a tremendous role model for me, and I owe a lot of what I was able to accomplish to her continued belief in me. She is an incredibly strong person and seeing how resilient she has been in front of challenges life threw at her has definitely taught me to persevere at times when things get difficult. At MRS, we take time to acknowledge all the wonderful women that play integral roles throughout the company and highlight their achievements.
Q. What ideas do you have for companies interested in embracing diversity and inclusion among your team and in the industry, both this month and year-round?
A. We do have a very diverse group of individuals that are part of the MRS family, people from different walks of life with different backgrounds. The interesting fact is that to be successful in the ARM industry you need to be compassionate, and I believe the compassion that we can show our customers helps unite our employees.
Q. Do you have any suggestions for other companies working on educational and inclusiveness programs in the industry?
A. Any company that is truly committed to diversity and inclusivity needs to lead by example, and in a lot of cases, it starts from the top. The leadership team needs to set an example and show the rest of the organization that inclusivity applies at all levels.
Q. Who inspires you among women in history or in your life? Why?
A. Marie Curie as the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and Ruth Bader Ginsburg for being an inspiration for many women in their own fight for equality.
