In its new blog post on ACA International’s Safeguards Resource Center, “Safeguards Rule Compliance Countdown: Are You Ready?” TPx, ACA’s Safeguards security partner of choice, reviews why the rule deadline changed (hat tip to ACA!) and why companies still need to stay on top of action items to ensure compliance by June 9, 2023.
“In order to pass the FTC audits beginning in June 2023, you’ll need to be defensible and provide a strong case that your information security program is secure and running smoothly,” the blog post notes. “Claiming you started work on June 8 will not be nearly as defensible and potentially will result in a less-than-desirable report.”
ACA’s Safeguards Rule Resource Center provides multiple resources and compliance tools for members.
“This rule, which introduces the biggest changes in its requirements in almost 20 years, expects covered companies to implement a comprehensive information security program,” said ACA CEO Scott Purcell. “There is a lot of benefit in this rule, but a lot of upfront costs and changes—and ACA is on point with practical and relevant guidance for its members.”
