The Maryland Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development will present a free information session on Maryland’s Homeowner Assistance Fund to mortgage servicers and banks, credit unions and collection agencies that service mortgage loans or residential property liens in Maryland on Jan. 11.
The Maryland Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) is intended to help Maryland residents who are struggling with their mortgage payments or other housing costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maryland’s HAF program creates long-term and affordable solutions for homeowners, as opposed to short-term assistance without clear or sustainable outcomes. The servicing and collection industry is a key partner in bringing the financial assistance provided by HAF to Maryland homeowners to help them remain in their homes, and to the noteholders and secured parties that through HAF may avoid unnecessary losses associated with foreclosure.
For questions about this free information session, from 3-4:15 p.m. EST Jan. 11, email Meredith Merchant at [email protected].
Registration for the session is available here.
For more information about the Maryland HAF program, visit the Maryland DHCD website.
Note: Maryland HAF program has begun accepting applications from homeowners. The Commissioner of Financial Regulation views HAF as an integral part of the loss mitigation process under Maryland law. All servicers, whether licensed or exempt from licensure, are expected to cooperate with homeowners seeking assistance through this program.
