You can stand out among your peers, prove that your agency can be trusted to operate prudently, and instill a culture of professional development by pursuing an ACA International designation. Creditors as well as your peers notice professionals who have earned an ACA designation. You know your stuff—show it off!
ACA’s seven designations are highly recognized and regarded in the accounts receivable management industry. Start with the fundamentals by earning a Professional Collection Specialist designation, then build your expertise by pursuing credentials specific to collector, compliance, operations, leadership, health care and other industry roles.
Here, Janet Bayliff, senior director of compliance at Revco Solutions Inc., shares how her company leverages ACA’s designation program.
Q: How does ACA’s designation program help attract and retain clients?
Bayliff: Having a relevant certification in compliance has helped attract and retain employees as well as clients in a few key areas:
- It signals expertise and credibility. It shows that our organization and leadership actively invest in developing skills and knowledge related to compliance. Understanding that compliance has become such a hot topic over the years, it is important that employees and clients alike know that you take it seriously.
- It demonstrates our commitment to quality. Certifications of any kind often require meeting standards and adhering to best practices. This commitment is displayed through our work and development of our employees.
- It builds reputation. It displays our commitment to employees and clients that we are dedicated to legal, ethical operations through our expertise, quality processes and professional development.
Q: How does ACA’s designation program increase compliance and operational effectiveness?
Bayliff: Having this certification means that our organization has a dedicated professional with expertise to ensure we are adhering to industry regulations and quality standards. This is seen through policies, procedures and training, thus embedding compliance throughout our operations.
This certification also assists me in understanding the various technical details of regulations and laws. We are able to reduce errors and oversights while ensuring that we remain within our legal bounds and ethical norms. It further promotes accountability throughout the organization through our Compliance Management System, which includes oversight, training, documentation, enhanced monitoring, testing and controls and reporting structures.
