Last week, Troutman Pepper, an ACA International member company based in Atlanta, Georgia, announced that Kim Phan, a partner in its Privacy + Cyber Practice Group, was sworn in as the 2023-2024 president of the National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys (NCVAA), the first-ever national Vietnamese American bar association for lawyers, law students, judges and legal scholars.
Prior to her new role, Phan served on the NCVAA board as the incoming president from 2022-2023 and as secretary of NCVAA from 2021-2022.
As president, Phan will lead the board and ensure NCVAA continues its mission to promote the education and professional development of Vietnamese Americans in the legal community.
“I am extremely honored to be named the president of NCVAA for this coming year,” Phan said. “This organization has connected me with so many other like-minded individuals who gladly share their experiences, struggles, and successes together. I’m excited to be able to give back to this community that has given so much to me. Along with the rest of the NCVAA Board, I look forward to continuing our efforts to provide professional development and networking opportunities to our members.”
Phan is a privacy and data security attorney who counsels companies in federal and state privacy and data security statutes and regulations. She focuses her practice on assisting companies with data breach prevention and response, including establishing effective security programs prior to a data breach and the assessment of breach response obligations following an incident.
“We congratulate Kim on her well-deserved appointment to president of the NCVAA,” said Erin Cannon, director of diversity, equity & inclusion at Troutman Pepper. “Her dedication to the legal community and commitment to promoting the education and professional development of Vietnamese Americans is truly inspiring. As a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Privacy + Cyber Practice Group and as a diversity, equity and inclusion partner, Kim has consistently demonstrated her expertise and leadership, and we are confident that she will bring the same passion and dedication to her role at NCVAA.”
