The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued its long-awaited Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, providing the first regulatory clarity in nearly 40 years after the law’s enactment. Notably the rule released this week is only in the proposed stage, and ACA will be working over the next several weeks and months to provide additional feedback to Bureau and to work to improve upon its proposal. It is critical for the industry to be engaged in this process and to work closely with ACA as we continue to advocate for additional clarity for the accounts receivables management industry. ACA’s webinar will discuss our initial thoughts on the proposed rule, outline steps agencies should be taking to gather feedback about the rule, and discuss what steps ACA members should be taking to provide thoughts on the rule to ACA and the CFPB.
