August 2, 2021 – Minneapolis, Minnesota – The ACA International Education Foundation proudly recognized the 2021/22 recipients of the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarships in conjunction with ACA’s 2021 Convention & Expo held July 28-30 in Las Vegas. This year, the foundation received many applications for the scholarship and chose 25 distinguished students for scholarships totaling $40,000.
Thanks to decades of support from ACA members and staff, the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship Program has grown and expanded to help hundreds of students connected to the association and industry pursue higher education.
Isabella Schenking received a $10,000 scholarship to attend Hanover College. Her parent is employed by Crown Asset Management in Duluth, Georgia.
“Winning this scholarship is a life-changing event and I could not be more excited,” Schenking said. “With this scholarship, I am able to purchase my books needed my freshman year, as well as live on campus and have more time to focus on my studies. My aspirations are to become an advocate working with the Department of Education for children with dyslexia and this scholarship will help propel me forward in this endeavor.”
Honoring the memories of Robert E. Loomer and Irvin “Dempsey” Mortenson, the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship is available annually to employees of the credit and collection industry and members of their family. Recipients are selected based on several criteria, including GPA and an essay outlining the value of consumer credit.
Founded in 1995, the ACA International Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization focused on promoting consumer financial literacy. It is the philanthropic arm of ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals.
