The ACA International Education Foundation awarded a record 21 scholarships this year based on the success of Collectors Challenge Month goal to help families pay for higher education.
Winners of the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarships were announced during the ACA International 2016 Convention & Expo.
With the support of member companies participating in Collectors Challenge Month, the ACA International Education Foundation issued $33,000 in scholarships in 2016 to help rising professionals who work at a company affiliated with the credit and collection industry. The scholarships are also open to a child of an employee.
Due to the success of ACA International's Collectors Challenge Month fundraisers this year and the quality of the applicants, the Education Foundation Board was able to provide more scholarships than anticipated.
The Education Board also decided to offer more scholarships based on the continued focus on the cost of education and families' struggles to pay for higher education.
Honoring the memories of Robert E. Loomer and Irvin “Dempsey” Mortenson, the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship is available annually to employees of the credit and collection industry andmembers of their family. Recipients are selected based on several criteria, including GPA and an essay outlining the value of consumer credit.
Two first-place winners received $5,000, two second-place winners received $3,000 and 17 third-place recipients received $1,000 each.
ACA International congratulates all of the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship recipients and thanks its members for their support of the program during Collectors Challenge Month.
