Officials from the CFPB and FTC will explain how investigations in the credit and collection industry are conducted, and what companies can do to prepare.
ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals, is teaming up with prestigious law firm Holland & Knight to present an engaging half-day seminar on government investigations of debt collection companies. “Governmental Investigations Involving the Debt Collection Industry: Ignorance is Not Bliss” will feature officials from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Federal Trade Commission discussing how their agencies handle law enforcement investigations in the credit and collection space.
The seminar will take place Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Holland & Knight office in Washington, D.C. Anthony DiResta, partner at Holland & Knight, will moderate the presentation featuring Anthony Alexis, enforcement Director, CFPB; Greg Nodler, senior counsel for enforcement policy and strategy, CFPB; Heather Allen, acting Assistant Director in the Division of Financial Practices at the Federal Trade Commission; and Dan Dwyer, a debt collection lead, also within the Division of Financial Practices at the FTC.
Learn how law enforcement investigations are conducted, which strategies the government uses and what these agencies expect from defense counsel. Panelists will specifically discuss targets and the criteria for their selection, trends and concerns in the industry, and criteria for prosecutorial discretion.
Registration for “Governmental Investigations Involving the Debt Collection Industry: Ignorance is Not Bliss” is open now and runs through August 31.
