4/19/2017 5:51:00 PM
Trott, a new member of the House Financial Services Committee, subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, focused on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in his previous appearances at the conference for ACA members.
U.S. Rep. Dave Trott, R-Mich., who questioned Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray during a recent contentious House hearing, will speak at the 2017 Washington Insights Conference May 2-4 at the Loews Madison Hotel.
Trott was among House Financial Services Committee members who questioned Cordray during a six-hour hearing focused on the CFPB’s authority, rulemakings and regulations. As the former owner of a debt collection law firm, Trott has a thorough understanding of the collections and credit industry.
He was selected to serve on the House Financial Services Committee by Chairman U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, this year. He also serves on the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
Trott is focused on creating jobs through his role in Congress and previously talked with ACA members about the importance of debt collectors to the U.S. credit-based economy.
He will join other congressional speakers, including U.S. Reps. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., Scott Tipton, R-Colo., and U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., at the Washington Insights Conference.
Regulatory speakers slated for the event include J. Reilly Dolan, acting deputy director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, Michael O’Rielly, Federal Communications Commission and Kristina Sesek, director of legislative affairs at the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform.
The featured keynote speaker is political commentator and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga.
