ACA International advises members to use their discretion and consult with counsel before contacting consumers in areas impacted by a natural disaster.

While Louisiana remains under a state of emergency due to Hurricane Laura through Sept. 20, 2020, ACA International confirmed with Louisiana Public Service Commission Do Not Call Program Manager Brenda Headlee that collection calls on existing debts may continue.
The exemption for calls in connection with an existing debt, contract or payment is not impacted by the current state of emergency, according to Headlee.
However, ACA encourages members to use their judgment and discretion when contacting consumers who may be impacted by the state of emergency at this time and consult with their counsel for guidance if needed.
