The Northeast Debt Collection Expo returned to Caesar’s in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Sept. 12-14, and its longtime bottle auction event raised more than $25,000 for the ACPAC Administrative Fund.
ACPAC, ACA International’s political action committee, has two separate funds. The Candidate Fund, which is solely dedicated toward supporting candidates, and the Administrative Fund, which makes the Candidate Fund’s mission possible. Auction proceeds will help support the operating expenses of ACPAC, including compliance, reporting and auditing, grassroots education and advocacy, fundraising and other administrative costs.
The annual Northeast Debt Collection Expo, held by the New York, New England, New Jersey and Mid-Atlantic Units, attracted more than 120 ACA members from 13 states.
Attendees were invited to dress up a bottle of wine or liquor and each bottle was auctioned off during a cocktail reception. Close to 60 bottles were donated in total, and Quantrax presented a record-breaking bid of more than $5,000 on one bottle.
Harry Strausser III, CCCO, IFCCE, MCE, president of Applied Innovation, emceed the auction.
“ACPAC is such a vital part of ACA and the ARM industry,” Strausser said. “We are proud to support all the good work it does. Plus, I personally enjoy supporting ACPAC because of the long tenure my dad, Harry Strausser Jr., had with the PAC.”
In addition to the bottle auction, the conference featured informative and enlightening sessions on accounts receivable management industry topics and business solutions, including cybersecurity, the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau debt collection rule, electronic communications and more.
ACPAC is the voluntary, bipartisan political action committee (PAC) for ACA. It is the only PAC that represents the entire accounts receivable management industry in our nation’s political system. Learn more about ACPAC here.
