Sunrise Credit Services Inc., an ACA International member company based in Farmingdale, New York, recently received a 2021 Helen Keller Services (HKS) AccessAbility Award in recognition of its efforts to make diversity and inclusivity a priority by “providing training and employment opportunities to people who are blind, DeafBlind and have low vision,” according to a news release.
Elizabeth Vidas, assistant vice president, training and quality assurance at Sunrise Credit Services, commented on the award.
“Receiving the AccessAbility Award really has special meaning for us at Sunrise Credit Services. It echoes our company commitment to establishing a family-oriented workplace that is inclusive of all types of employees. We got to where we are now because we pride ourselves on being hands on through constant training, and development of our employees,” Vidas said. “We believe everyone can be successful if they are given the right tools, encouragement and environment to grow. We see a bright future and continued success of our people and the inclusion of all. We hope that other companies, both big and small take a chance and think outside the box.”
HKS held its first annual AccessAbility Awards this year. ?
Among Sunrise Credit Services, the other recipients of the inaugural set of awards were the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Microsof, UsableNet and Be My Eyes.
The HKS event was broadcast live on the HKS Facebook page and on the HK Youtube June 30.
The HKS AccessAbility Awards were timed to coincide with both the birthday of Helen Keller and DeafBlind Awareness Week.
