ACA International members, accounts receivable management (ARM) industry professionals and leaders from the Minneapolis and Washington, D.C., offices will be in Chicago this week for the annual Fall Forum & Expo featuring the opportunity to learn together on the heels of the release of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s proposed debt collection rulemaking and ACA’s comprehensive comments.
Before the official kickoff of Fall Forum, ACA is offering special add-on seminars available as part of advanced compliance designations.
The Wednesday, Nov. 6, series includes sessions on Call Evaluations, Keep Calm & Prevent UDAAP and Data Security & Privacy II that perfectly position members to earn or renew ACA’s Credit and Collection Compliance Officer (CCCO), Credit and Collection Compliance Attorney (CCCA) and Credit and Collection Compliance Professional (CCCP) designations.
Thursday morning, Nov. 7, CFPB Policy Associate Director Tom Pahl will talk one-on-one with ACA CEO Mark Neeb during the opening general session at 8 a.m. CST—“CFPB Rulemaking: Our Comments Are In—Now What?”
The industry has been watching as the CFPB moves closer to finalizing the long-awaited debt collection rules. ACA’s comments on the proposed rule have been filed, along with thousands of others from industry advocates, industry critiques and consumers. As the CFPB sifts through the different perspectives represented by the comments, the industry begins to prepare for the eventual final rule which may significantly alter how agencies communicate with consumers. Neeb and Pahl will discuss these topics and more during this informative session. It is an exclusive opportunity for ARM industry professionals to hear the next steps in the CFPB’s rulemaking process from Pahl, followed by education and networking opportunities throughout the conference.
The 2019 Fall Forum & Expo continues with several concurrent sessions. For example, learn about billing practices of health care providers, data security awareness, speech analytics and more from ACA Certified Instructors, featured speakers and staff throughout the three-day event.
ACA members are also invited to an exclusive session with Vice President and Senior Counsel of Federal Advocacy Leah Dempsey and Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith partners Patrik Johansson, Jane Luxton and Stephen Turner Esq. at 11 a.m. CST Nov. 7, “Facing the Brave New World: Life After the CFPB’s New Debt Collection Rule.” The presentation will analyze the themes and implications for the debt collection community from both regulatory and litigation perspectives.
