Responding to Industry, CFPB Extends Comment Deadline on Out-of-Statute Debt Proposal

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has extended its comment period on the Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SNPRM) concerning out-of-statute debt to June 5, 2020, a change ACA International requested in consideration of challenges throughout the country as a result of COVID-19. ACA submitted a letter to CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger on behalf of the industry Friday.

The extension will allow members and industry professionals adequate time to provide public comment on the SNPRM and ACA appreciates the response from the CFPB.

Read more on the SNPRM in ACA’s initial analysis.
