Scott Hamilton, sales executive at Prodigal, an ACA International member company based in Richmond, Va., and his son, Charlie Hamilton, a junior in high school, are selling handcrafted wooden bowls to support their nonprofit, Serving Bowls, this holiday season.
With Scott’s support and lots of free time since the COVID-19-related shutdowns went into effect in 2020, Charlie turned a woodworking passion honed over the last five years into the nonprofit, Serving Bowls, which helps mitigate food instability caused by the pandemic.
Serving Bowls sells handcrafted bowls and directs all profits to the nonprofit organization, Feeding America.
With Charlie making most of the bowls, lifelong friend Charlie Unice assists with marketing and distribution, and Scott helps with the administration, taxes, and sourcing/transporting the specialty wood slabs needed for the unique works of art.
“Serving Bowls has donated $15,000 in total to Feeding America over the past two summers,” Scott Hamilton said. “Summer and other school breaks are the primary time for product development, as Charlie is a student. I’m extremely proud of Charlie and thankful to be able to help support the opportunity he took hold of to develop a passion while helping those in need. He’s shown an incredible amount of dedication and initiative.”
