President Announces Intent to Nominate FTC Acting Chairman as Federal Judge

President Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate Federal Trade Commission Acting Chairman Maureen Ohlhausen as a judge on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims Tuesday.

Ohlhausen is among 11 other possible nominees for the federal bench.

“I am honored that the president has expressed his intent to nominate me to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, one of the oldest federal courts in our nation. In the meantime, I will continue to serve at the Federal Trade Commission until a time when I may be so fortunate as to be confirmed to the Court of Federal Claims by the United States Senate,” Ohlhausen said in a statement released Tuesday.

She was named acting chairman of the FTC in January 2017, replacing Edith Ramirez, who resigned. Ohlhausen was confirmed as a commissioner on the FTC in 2012.
