Businesses that access the Wireless Do Not Call (WDNC) service to identify telephone numbers ported between wireless and wireline providers will need to register with iconectiv, the new Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA) by Nov. 30.

In July 2016, iconectiv was designated by the Federal Communications Commission to serve as the new LNPA which had been previously administered by Neustar. The Number Portability Administration Center (NPAC) is comprised of seven regional systems across the U.S., and manages the number portability processes of wireline, wireless, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and IP communications.

The transition remains on schedule and the WDNC service is planned to switch to the iconectiv NPAC in March 2018, according to iconectiv.

Companies that use auto-dialers or artificial pre-recorded voices to contact consumers may choose to subscribe to WDNC service to identify numbers that have been ported from wireline to wireless to help comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and FCC regulations. Current WDNC users must be registered prior to the launch of the new NPAC in order to continue to receive WDNC service.

More information about the transition is available at www.numberportability.com.
