Licensed agencies are resuming operations in Nevada.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has lifted the state’s temporary “stay” on garnishments, effective June 30 at 11:59 p.m., through the issuance of Directive 26.
Since Nevada was one of the first states to disrupt the work of collection agencies in response to the COVID-19 crisis, by including them in the non-essential business category, the Nevada Collectors Association has worked to reverse decisions preventing agencies from communicating with consumers, as well as the temporary garnishment order.
In June, the Nevada Financial Institutions Division (NFID) released a statement indicating that licensed collection agencies may resume business operations as long as they remain in compliance with other emergency directives issued by Gov. Sisolak.
The June guidance from the NFID allows agencies to reopen in compliance with the governor’s opening guidelines and resume sending letters and making calls to Nevada consumers.
Directive 26 is in effect through July 31, 2020, at 11:59 p.m., unless terminated or extended by a subsequent directive.
