Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz clarified Executive Order 20-20 Friday indicating that "debt collection professionals and other workers supporting debt collection are not exempted" from in the state’s Stay At Home order. Under the order, debt collection professionals are not considered "critical workers," therefore they are asked not to travel to, or work outside of their home.
The Minnesota Commerce Department previously issued remote worker guidance to all licensed Collection Agencies and Registered Collectors.
According to Walz, "workers or volunteers in critical sectors, who are performing work that cannot be done at their home or residence through telework or virtual work and can only be done at a place of work outside of their home or residence, are exempted and permitted to leave home if they need to do so for work. These critical services exemptions apply only to travel to and from an individual’s place of work and an individual’s performance of work duties, including transportation to and from childcare or school settings as necessary to ensure the safe care of children."
Also, late Sunday, President Trump extended the "social distancing" guidelines until April 30, according to multiple media reports. ACA International will provide additional information on this development in future ACA Daily articles.
