The ACA International MAP Committee’s next teleseminar as part of the new compliance legal education series for members features all you need to know about disputes from three expert instructors June 12.
Dennis Barton III, managing attorney at The Barton Law Group Inc.; Eileen Bitterman, shareholder and compliance officer at Weltman Weinberg & Reis Co LPA; and June Coleman, shareholder at Carlson & Messer LLP, will present helpful tips for managing disputes during Give a Hoot – Don’t Mess up a Dispute – Reporting Strategies for Defending and Preventing Claims.
The Sigma 6 Compliance Legal Education Series is an opportunity for attorney members to learn from top industry instructors, ACA International staff and representatives of regulators.
In the June 12 seminar, Barton, Bitterman and Coleman will present tips to help you identify various ways a debtor can dispute a debt and dispute information on a credit report. Also, this seminar will address the different duties debt collectors have under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act when a debt and/or credit information is disputed. This seminar will cover not only what is required under the law, but also practices that could help minimize the risk of litigation.
ACA International will apply for CLE credits for each seminar in the series following the presentation.
Members will also earn .75 Professional Development Units for this online seminar, which can be applied toward ACA’s Credit and Collection Compliance Officer (CCCO), and Scholar and Fellow designations.
