Lamm, in a conversation with Collector magazine Managing Editor Anne Rosso May, also provides tips for online networking and professional development if your company’s budget doesn’t allow for regular travel to conferences.
He notes the multiple online offerings from ACA International, available on our Events and Education calendar. (Don’t miss the upcoming Spring Forum & Expo in March and the Washington Insight Fly-In in May.)
Make sure participants truly block out the time when they sign up for an online learning seminar and limit distractions from email or phone calls.
If you have multiple employees signed up for a session, consider setting up a space where they can participate together, take notes, and engage with the online instructor.
“If you don’t block out the time, you’re only really hearing 25 to 40% of what is being shared with you during those online sessions,” Lamm said. “Getting people out of the office sometimes sparks a lot more thoughts on ways to help grow, enhance and make businesses in our industry more efficient."
Lamm also discusses tips for attending your first conference and developing a game plan for events that will serve as the best return on investment.
