WebRecon’s latest report shows monthly increases in consumer litigation filings but year-to-date variations.

The latest statistics tracked by WebRecon LLC show consumer ligation filings increased across the board in June.
Looking at the monthly changes from May to June, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act filings increased 2% from 611 to 623; Fair Credit Reporting Act filings increased 18.9% from 423 to 503; and Telephone Consumer Protection Act filings increased 62% from 111 to 180.
Year-to-date, WebRecon reports TCPA filings decreased 51.4% comparing January through June 2020 to January through June 2021—from 2,111 to 1,027 respectively—but CEO Jack Gordon said the numbers are influenced by “some unusual filings in early 2020” and are “not necessarily that useful for prognosticating.”
More Year-to-Date Filings
FDCPA filings declined 8.5% from 3,653 to 3,344 when comparing January through June 2020 to January through June 2021.
FCRA filings increased by 7.4% from 2,569 to 2,760.
Complaints to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau increased 36.3% year-to-date from 2020, and there was a 16.3% increase from May to June 2021.
Timely responses from financial services companies continue to come in at strong rate this year: 97%.
