ACA International is working diligently to compile feedback from our members to file a comprehensive comment letter on the industry’s behalf in response to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s rule proposal to modernize the severely outdated Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The accounts receivable management industry has been seeking clarity surrounding aspects of the FDCPA that attract frivolous litigation for decades, and is also encouraging the CFPB to consider consumer preferences to use new technologies.
NOW is the time for you to change the status quo and make a difference by telling Congress and the CFPB directly that this issue is important to you. Without appropriate updates, the FDCPA could hamper your ability to contact consumers on behalf of your clients. Interest groups representing the priorities of the plaintiffs’ bar have waged counter-campaigns weighing in against aspects of the proposal that are supported by ACA members.
That’s why we are asking you and your staff to join ACA’s grassroots efforts. Contact your members of Congress and the CFPB leadership and urge them to consider the views of the accounts receivable management industry concerning the tremendous importance of updating the FDCPA. TAKE ACTION by clicking here.
The campaign push will go strong until the close of the comment period on Sept. 18, 2019. For a summary of the rule, click here.
In addition to taking action through our grassroots campaign, we also encourage members to file their own more comprehensive comment letters. We will share more information in the coming weeks about how ACA can help you with the process. This email campaign is just the beginning, and is a small but important part of our ongoing, comprehensive strategy to ensure lawmakers and the CFPB understand our industry's priorities.
