ACA International members and staff recently participated in the North American Collection Agency Regulatory Association (NACARA) annual conference Oct. 4-6, 2021. Portions of the three-day, online event were open to accounts receivable management (ARM) industry participants and included several panels featuring ACA members.
Industry panels included:
- A Tale of Two Styles: Debt Settlement and Credit Repair Agencies with Courtney Reynaud, president, Creditors Bureau USA; Christian Lehr, chief operating officer, Healthcare Collections-I LLC; and Pete Klipa, creditor relations vice president, National Foundation for Credit Counseling.
- COVID-19’s Impact on the Collection Industry & the Consumer Experience with Brian Watkins, president Southern Oregon Credit Service Inc.; Ryan Matrisch, director, business development, ProCom Services of Illinois Inc.; and Jeff DiMatteo, president American Profit Recovery Inc.
- Industry Legislative and Regulatory Update with Andrew Madden, ACA’s vice president of government and state affairs, and David Reid, general counsel, Receivables Management Association International.
“The unique conversations and open dialogue that take place at this conference are invaluable for both industry and regulatory attendees, especially with the Reg F compliance date coming up and after a busy state legislative session with more than 800 bills impacting the ARM industry,” Madden said.
Overall, the event is an opportunity for regulators and ARM professionals to have in-depth conversations on the current state of the industry as well as challenges and technological advances that are changing consumers’ wants, needs and expectations for communications.
“It is important to share ideas and hear what issues are impacting regulators and the industry across state lines,” Madden said.
