New Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Director Kathy Kraninger met with press at the bureau this week to discuss priorities for her five-year term that started Dec. 11.
Alan Kaplinsky, partner at Ballard Spahr LLP, provided a summary from the meeting on the firm’s blog.
Kraninger, according to the article, said “she has not yet decided what policies of Acting Director Mick Mulvaney that she will change. She noted the important difference in leadership posture between her and Mulvaney in that her status as director will be full-time. She emphasized that she will be making her own decisions for which she will be fully accountable.”
In addition, Kaplinsky reports the bureau will continue to focus on enforcement, including enforcement orders against “bad actors” under Kraninger’s leadership. Kraninger also indicated her regulatory priorities are in line with the BCFP’s latest semi-annual regulatory agenda.
